The tropical garden where to take refuge from the heat in Malaga
If you’ve lost count of the heat waves we’ve had this summer, take advantage of this plan in nature, in the shade and without leaving the city. The La Concepción Botanical-Historical Garden in Malaga is an oasis of subtropical and native plants, monumental trees and flowers of all colours. This subtropical garden, which was created in 1855 as an agricultural estate on the banks of the Guadalmedina River, has more than 50,000 plants of 3,000 different species. Recognised as an Asset of Cultural Interest, we recommend you visit the colossal olive tree, which is more than 400 years old and has a perimeter of 3.3 metres.
There are also primitive plants, cacti, aquatic plants and baobabs. La Concepción is also a perfect spot for spotting birds and insects, such as the elusive and endangered monarch butterfly. A magical walk through greenery and fresh air that you can enjoy free of charge on Sundays from 16:30 to 20:30 until 30 September. General admission for all other times costs €5.2.
