Barcelona from above: 3 viewpoints with breathtaking views
To really get to know a city you have to explore it from every possible angle. If you’ve already explored Barcelona from far and wide, you still have to enjoy it from above. The three viewpoints we present below offer you the chance to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the streets, squares, parks and beaches of Barcelona. See Barcelona from the heights to discover a unique perspective of a city that you’ll fall in love with wherever you look. Join us on this journey through three enclaves with views in Barcelona that will take your breath away.
1. Park Güell
A classic if ever there was one. The views offered by the famous park designed by the genius Gaudí are unrivalled. Situated on the slopes of Mount Carmel, at an altitude of between 150-210 metres, Park Güell is an architectural ensemble full of colour and geometry, and a prime example of Catalan Modernisme. From here you can admire the city, the skyline and the Mediterranean Sea from above. Admission is available from €10.
2. Bunkers of Carmel
A little higher up is this viewpoint located at the top of Turó de la Rovira (262 metres above sea level, to be precise). This enclave, which during the Civil War housed an anti-aircraft battery (no bunkers, contrary to what its name suggests), is increasingly popular for the incredible 360º views it offers of the city. It is said that from there you can see the most beautiful sunsets in Barcelona.
3. Montjuïc cable car
Riding the cable car that takes you from the base to the top of the iconic Montjuïc mountain is one of the must-do experiences in Barcelona. When you see the amazing views of the city, the port and the sea that this journey to the heights gives you, you’ll want to do it again, we assure you. If the panoramic view is incredible on the way up, imagine what awaits you when you reach the top.
Barcelona is full of contrasts, culture and life, and an excellent way to enjoy it is from the heights of the different viewpoints that the city offers, with panoramic views that will remain forever etched in your memory (and in your camera, of course). See you at the heights!
